Attractive Characters # 8: Puck aka Robin Goodfellow

Best. Dude. Faery. EVER!!!!

If you have ever had the privilege of reading "A Midnight Summer's Dream," by our loved Bard, Bill Shakespeare, then you know who Robin Goodfellow is. Or as he is used to being called, Puck. He is a trickster, a prankster, a boy who loves to play tricks on people, especially those who are higher ranked than him.

And in Julie Kagawa's amazing quartet, he is no different. He is the friend, the older brother that never happened, the romance that didn't work out, the person who makes the whole series worth reading. Or maybe that's Ash....I don't know, its a close call!

When the beginning of the trilogy starts in "The Iron King," we get to know Puck as Robbie Goodfellow, the best friend of the protagonist, Meghan Chase. He is the one who stays by her side, constantly the protector, always making sure she is safe. And then...BOOM! Reality hits. Or maybe it's more of a supernaturality that allows us to see Puck for who he truly is: a Faery of the Summer court. He is the Summer Court's trickster, the joker. He is also King Oberon's pet; the person who he put in charge of keeping his daughter safe. I suppose now should be the moment when I throw in that Oberon is the King of Summer/Seelie Court where he reigns with his rhymes-with-witch wife, Titania. Oberon also happens to be the father of Meghan, a fact that was unknown up until Puck dragged her into the Nevernever.

One of the best qualities about Puck is that he happens to be one of the most loyal, entertaining and funniest characters in the whole series. He loves to make fun of people in the most sarcastic manner and as much as some people not find that appealing, it's quite charming. He has a way to make the most dire of   circumstances into one of the most funny. Sure, there might be instances where  he and his fellow partner, Ash, might be in a near-death experience,but somehow, someway, Puck manages to turn the situation funny. Maybe not to Ash or whoever he happens to be with, but to the reader, us, he does. A smart remark can go a long way into making any situation funny and maybe even a bit more bearable. Though, it's not a lie when I state that he tends to become a tad bit sidetracked when he sees an opportunity to make a situation worse if it involves inflicting anything embarrassing onto an enemy. Like the time when he tied a house's chicken legs together and when it tried to chase after him, it fell. But that's another story for another time.

One more thing about Puck that makes him way more lovable. He is loyal. He loves Meghan so much, that no matter how many times she pushes him away, he always bounces back, sometimes as a person, sometimes as a raven. Either way, he comes back and he never lets the people that he cares about down. Despite the fact that he loves her, he still manages to love her enough to let her go in the end. And isn't that what love truly is?

Attractive Characters #7: Dimitri Belikov

I have always said that foreign guys are attractive and more mature than what we here in America know. For one, foreign guys are seemingly more attractive because they almost always know another language. What person would not be attracted to that? Plus, they might have grown up with different customs and so they are capable of teaching us so much. This very reason is why I have grown to love young, handsome, and Russian Dimitri Belikov AKA Dimka (no, I will never understand Russian nicknames). He’s a character in Richelle Meade’s Vampire Academy series.

Dimitri is a main character who is a Guardian. That means that he knows some serious kick-butt moves that involve decapitation, and staking. Sounds harsh? Well, when dealing with Strigoi, undead, evil vampires who take innocent lives, that’s what is necessary to survive. Ok, allow me to elaborate because I am probably confusing the cheese out of you.

In the Vampire Academy series, there are two different kinds of vampires: the Moroi and the Strigoi. As I have already made clear, the Strigoi are the ones who are evil and are the very stereotype of nasty, evil, blood-drinkers that many people seem to associate vampires with. Moroi are the good vampires who only drink blood in small amounts when feeding. They have elemental magic, such as control over water, air, fire, earth and even spirit. The Strigoi don’t making them even more….dead.

Due to the unnatural Strigoi, the Guardians are the ones who protect the Moroi from being attacked and murdered by the Strigoi. This is the job of Guardian Belikov. He is one of the best at the school he teaches at: St. Vladimir’s Academy. Dimitri is Russian and from Siberia where he grew up. Hence the reason I started off by explaining why foreign people are considered more attractive. And this Guardian is.  Make no mistake about that.

Dimitri is described as having a tall, toned, physique with brown eyes and hair. He can best all and any other Guardian trainer. He is considered an intimidating person when he is first introduced but he turns out to be a calm, patient, loving guy with a sense of humor. His partner in crime, ok one of his students, Rose Hathaway, gave him the nickname Comrade because of his Russian background. More of his nicknames include, Cradle Robber, Anti-Social God, and Sergeant Boring Borscht. Obviously his nicknames are seemingly accurate, at least the majority are. Granted, he takes his job seriously and so he hardly ever jokes during a lesson but in general? He is one of the most open and fun loving people you could ever meet. That is in books. Real life…? Maybe not. But hey! One can always dream.

Attractive Characters #6: Ashallyn' darkmyr Tallyn (Ash) - Prince of the Unseelie Court

Ash.

      Dark.

        Alluring.

                    Foreign. 

The prince of the Winter Fey. 

Ashallyn’ darkmyr Tally, also known as Ash, is a fey that is consumed by his need to obey his mother, the vicious Queen Mab of the Unseelie Court. He loves the wyldwood and refuses to live at Court with his brothers, Rowan and Sage (Yes, they are named after trees....). Ash has chilling powers and a dark legacy, which he uses to perpetually ward off those who he does not like. 

His silver-grey eyes are enough to stop you cold, yet still wanting more. You might want to check your pulse. He is majorly handsome. Small drawback though: he is beyond serious. He makes Percy Weasley seem eccentric. Another small, teeny, disadvantage is that he is slow to trust anyone. He makes a powerful ally due to his status but he also makes... a dangerous lover and friend.

That small saying? About who you trust? Yeah, he takes that to the extreme.

Attractive Charachters #5: Alec Lightwood

Ok so there are a lot of people in this world that hate homosexual people. Personally, I think that homosexuals are some of the most funniest and kindest people ever. Some are even kinder than regular, straight people. And that's saying something. So when I say that I love Alec Lightwood, I am not exaggerating.

Alec is another character from Cassandra Clare's  Mortal Instruments series. He is the parabatai of Jace Lightwood thus making him all the more likable. Some of what he does, he does out of arrogance and love for Jace. Yes I said it; Alec was in love with Jace though only becaue he refuse to fall for Magnus Bane. Sadly, jace wasnt quite aware of that though and that just made Alec all the more irritable. Irritable because he didn't want people to know that he was gay and so he did his best to hide it. Not the best option but that leads me into what I want to say about him. 

For One, he is similar to Jace where their loved ones are concerned. Alec is the kind of person who would do just about anything for his family, especially his sister Isabelle and younger brother, Max. He doesn't always show it and he definitely doesn't like people knowing who he truly is but he is truly a heartfelt person regardless of his demeanor. He tends to be rather blunt to the point of cruelty and sarcasm but that's just him. 

Another reason I find Alec Lightwood so likable is that he fights. Obviously he is a Shadowhunter and its required. But Alec is similar to Jace in his fervor towards fighting to protect his loved ones from demons and Downworlders: they both love to kick....butt. Alec is more of a protector than an actual offender but he still is a skilled fighter. Alec may not be as skilled as his parabatai, or as arrogant when it comes to fighting, but he can do some pretty amazing damage. Just look at what he did to his and Magnus's relationship in City of Lost Souls. 

Long story short, he is a really cool guy who feels the need to impress everyone before himself. And that's just attractive in general aside from his blue eyes and black hair....

 

Attractive Characters #4: James Carstairs

            Now everyone knows that I am not all that fond of blondes. Hence the reason I was never all that attracted to Cedric Diggory. But, is blonde the same as silver? Who knows the answer to that? Not me, but obviously there is some difference because I am deeply attracted to James "Jem" Carstairs.

           Jem is  character in Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince. He is Shadowhunter with a horrendous past, this adding more to his appeal as a character. His mother was from Shanghai, China and his father was British. Talk about having a mixed offspring. But, that is just the most amazing thing about Jem: he is original in more ways than one. More on that later though. Jem is the parabatai of William Herondale, another character in the books. That means he is the blood brother (despite having different parents) of Will and is meant to look out for him, regardless of the situation. If an arrow were to be soaring towards Will, Jem would be obligated to step in front of that arrow, all to protect his parabatai. What makes this even more interesting is the fact that Jem would do that regardless of his bond to Will. That is just the person that Jem is.

         Jem is an original, as I stated earlier. He is kind, patient, and silver. I know, I know how that sounds. It sounds as though I have lost my mind and as likely as some would say that is possible, it hasn't happened as early as some expected.

         Jem has a curse that makes him an addict to a drug  called yin fen. It is a drug that he became addicted to as a child because a demon tortured him with it. Now, as a teenager, he cannot survive without it. Thus the reason I said that he was silver. The drug has a wee, little, tiny, side effect: it causes the user to lose their coloring. Jem, who was once a dark-haired boy, is now someone who looks as though he is an 80-year old man with silver hair. Color, wise that is. He still has the body of a 17 year old, just not the coloring.

     More reasons to love Jem is that he is so very kind and gentle. He rescued a cat who he named Church at the end of Clockwork Angel. He never loses his temper and always seems to have a sincere, calm disposition even under the most dire of circumstances. That just adds to his sexiness, regardless of the addiction he faces. Also, he is a determined fighter and a loyal friend.

       Determined because he fights with a fervor. Maybe to repay the demons that killed his parents and forced him to become an addict. Maybe because he just wants to rid the world of evil. Either way, his skill may not be as hones as his parabatai's, but that doesn't make him any less deadly. As for a loyal friend, he sticks by Will like white-on-rice. A bit cliche, but true all the same. Will tends to be the more reckless of the two, always getting into scrapes. Jem is the one who gets him out of those "scrapes" and the only one who seems to be able to withstand Will's dour disposition. Plus, as mentioned before, he is the one who remains cool and steady when a storm is brewing (Don't judge me, I am in a metaphoric mood).

       Jem Carstairs is a wonderful boy. He is thoughtful and kind; sweet and intelligent. Now, who wouldn't be attracted to silvers?

Attractive Characters #3: Harry Potter

       Now, to be frank, I am a fan of the "dark-haired, dark-eyed" male population. I don't mind blondes, nor do I intend to be biased, but that is just the truth of the matter. I like those types of guys.... that might be why I am such a fan of Harry Potter. Yes, I am speaking of the wizard who was born to Lily and James Potter, was a victim of attempted murder, and who is mostly famous for his lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead. That Harry Potter. The one and only. The Magnificent. The Hottie.
   

     Allow me to elaborate some more. Harry James Potter is the protagonist of the seven Harry Potter books, by the author J.K Rowling. The reason that I enjoy reading about this character is because he is attractive. Not just in the physical sense. Harry has that... charm, I suppose you could say, that makes people automatically like him. Except for the Dursley's, obviously. But he is loyal, honest, and awkward. There are a plenty amount of guys out there with this description, but Harry seems to ooze these three qualities.

        He is loyal.
               He is.
      Harry sticks by his fellow wrongdoers (Ron and Hermione) with a loyalty that is astonishing. He never lets them down, regardless of how bad the situation might be. For example, in book four, he and Ron get into an argument that almost severs their friendship. Neither spoke to the other, and both were miserable, but they both made up. He could have remained cold-shouldered to Ron for longer and even severed their friendship for good, but he didn't. With Sirius Black, his godfather, he stands by him when the entirety of the wizarding world convicts him as a mass murderer. Now, that is the definition of loyalty. Stand by a murderer.

    He is honest.
           He is.
         Honesty is one of the character traits for the students of Gryffindor, and Harry wears it well. Sure, he has told a little white lie for getting out of trouble, but who counts those? Apparently not him, seeing as how many times he had to tell one to avoid detention. But honesty wise, he is chock full of it. When Lord Voldemort returned from his... ghost like form, he told the whole world. Wizard world, that is.  Granted, he had to tell someone how Cedric Diggory died, but that fact still remains that he actually told everyone when he suspected that no would believe him. He turned out to be right, but that didn't prevent him from giving up.

  He is awkward.
         He is.
       As I said before, many guys are awkward. Teenage guys, adult guys, even little children can be awkward and gangly. Harry beats them all in this area but he does it in a charming manner that makes one think of how sure he is. When he is in the back of McGonagal's classroom sparring with Ron, this let's everyone know that he just like any other boy who hates doing work. Plus, once he hits his teenage years, he even tries to ask the hot and popular Cho Chang to the Yule Ball. That turns out to be a failure considering that he was up against the hot and popular Cedric Diggory.

        And his good looks just add to this charm.

Attractive Characters #2: Jace Lightwood

Blonde hair, gold colored eyes and a tendency to kick butt. All this applies to Jace Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments series. With his customary crooked smile, Jace is a Shadow Hunter as well as the son of the Herondale's biologically, the Lightwood's through adoption, and the Moregenstern's through....adoption as well. If a person with that many families didn't know what love was then there is something wrong in the wiring of their brain as well as heart.

Jace might know how to kick some serious patoosh and he might be able to send a demon back to its homeland without a second thought, but he also has a truly enormous that puts his family and loved ones before anything else.

With his blonde hair and gold eyes, his movie star good looks in general, he catches the eye of almost any human girl that can see him. Which almost none get that privilege, though, due to his runes for invisibility. But there is one girl that can truly capture his heart: Clary Fray. He hides many secrets from his past and refuses to acknowledge them to himself. All the darkness in him from his past, makes him all the more deadly....

1. He has movie star good looks and his heart is full of love. He protects those that he holds dear and doesn't think twice about his own safety....Though he can be a tad bit conceited...
2. Jace is a hot guy, granted, but he is also a hot guy that can kick some serious butt. Sure, he has the magic of the runes to protect him as well as some deadly devices, but who wouldn't like a guy that can knock out a demon by himself?
3. He might be a little conceited as well as sarcastic, but he is his own person and refuses to be changed by what he does for a living.

"You know, some people think Shadowhunters are just myths. Like mummies and genies." Kyle grinned at Jace. "Can you grant wishes?"

"That depends," he said. "Do you wish to be punched in the face?"

 His sarcasm is part of his charm. But, he can also be quite loving:

"I never cared," he said. "I wanted you anyway. I always wanted you."

Attractive Characters #1: Murtagh Morzansson

             So am I the only one who has read the Eragon series? If so, here is a recap: it's about a farmer boy named Eragon who finds a dragon egg in the mountains of his homeland and who takes the egg home. He eventually flees his hometown with a fellow villager names Brom the Storyteller, (Yes, that is his formal title) and goes to a secret society called the Varden who take him in and who help him with his dragon, The dragon's name is Saphira by the way.
            Now, along the way to the Varden, Eragon and Saphira face some serious encounters. One of them is fighting the creatures the evil king, Galbatorix, sends. The creatures are called the Raa'zac. They are evil and they wound Brom who was in turn trying to protect Eragon. The fight ensues and it appears as though the Raa'zac are going to win...until a mysterious stranger comes along and helps them. Turns out that the stranger is also on the run from the government and he is also trying to stay alive. That stranger is Murtagh Morzansson.
           Now, I don't plan on revealing all of Murtagh's characteristics due to the fact that there may be some people that haven't read the books and I don't want to ruin the series. So all I have to say is that Murtagh and Eragon happen to have more in common than they originally anticipated. They are both against the king and they both are AMAZING fighters. Swordsmen, to me more accurate. Here, I composed a list of why Murtagh is an attractive character, and not just in appearances.

This is the person that I find most suitable to portray this godly character. Granted, he is the one that already plays him, but still. Good choice, Hollywood.

1. He is a skilled fighter. Who wouldn't love to be able to wield a sword and be able to kick butt? Plus, he used those skills to save Brom and Eragon so that has to count for something. 
2. He is mysterious. He doesn't mention a whole lot about his past and avoids the subject entirely when mention of the Varden comes up. Plus, he has a scar across the whole of his back and he never mentions how he came to wield it. Well, he does but that is a discussion for another time. 
3. He has dark features. Black-brown hair, gray eyes, and a tanned complexion. Who wouldn't find that even remotely attractive????

Attractive Characters: Introduction

As an introduction, allow me to explain what this new page is. You see, I have this....fetish, for lack of a better word, that has to do with attractive guys. When I read books with a description of the character and I find myself attracted to the character, I visualize that character in my head. For all you readers out there, you know how frustrating it is to read a book and then have the movie come out. When that happens, the majority of us are not satisfied in the slightest. And not just with the revised plot, but with the actors and their appearances. So, mis amigos, this is a page that is solely dedicated to characters and their attractiveness. It might just take away from the stress of watching the movies. Or not. That is up to you.
