Cover Lovin' #3: Soul Screamers

Loss. For. Words. This thing is GORGEOUS. It's just so.... I don't know, I can't even describe it. Perfect. Then again, all of the Soul Screamers covers have been absolutely perfect. Not too long ago, I fawned over the cover for With All My Soul over here, and I'm still trying to come to terms with that one.

According to Rachel Vincent, the people that do her book covers for this series are Mira Ink, or something like that. Wherever they are, I just like to say thank you for all of the beautiful pieces of pure art you've put out there through these books. I absolutely love them all.

Don't even try to ask me which is my favorite. I'm trying.... and failing. Pretty pathetically. They're all so amazing. Though the cover for With All My Soul.... it's pretty high up there. But don't even get me started on the foreign covers.

This series is so amazing. Though I've only read the first book, I loved it. I was so depressed once I finished it because I couldn't wait until the next book came out in over a year. Through the Ever Night will definitely be pushed to the top of my list once it arrives.

Cover Lovin' #1: With All My Soul

So, we've got a new feature here at Marked By Books, just to appreciate all of amazing book covers out there. You never really think about all of the hard work that gets put into these because we really don't know that much about the process. All we see is the beautiful (hopefully) end result. Whether we admit it or not, we do judge a book by its cover, so here's a big thank you to all of the people who make them possible!

For those of you who caught the allusion in "Cover Lovin', yes it is based off of "Summer Nights." If you have never heard this song, shame on you! You must listen to it right now and experience the awesome that is Grease. Especially the fabulous dance moves.

I apologize for the horrible picture quality, but the movie is pretty old, and I couldn't find any good videos from the Broadway musical.

But anyway, on to the book cover. Rachel Vincent, who I adore, has recently released the cover for her newest Soul Screamers novel, With All My Soul. It.... is.... GORGEOUS! 

I love that they've kept this theme throughout the entire series, and the gold is beautiful! The summary of the book hasn't been released yet, but I think this can keep me placated for a while.

Anyways, I thought I'd just share some new books coming out that I'm really excited about. Some have already released while there are others that we have to wait just a little while longer for.

The Goddess Legacy by Aimee Carter

July 31st

I'm really excited for this book. I read the first book in the series, The Goddess Test, and I absolutely loved it. Pretty much anything involving Greek mythology is in my good graces. What can I say, the Percy Jackson series ruined me. This is the third book in the series, and, as the failure that I am, I haven't read the second one yet. I swear, it's standing in my To Be Read pile right next to my bed, I just haven't quite gotten to it yet. But never fear, the time will come.

Nevermore: The Final Maximum Ride Adventure by James Patterson

August 6th

I can't believe this is really it. The final Maximum Ride novel. Ever. I never thought this day would come. The series kept going on and on, even at times when I thought enough was enough (more on my love-hate relationship with these books at a later date), but there never seemed to be an end in sight. But it has finally arrived. I'm both excited and extremely nervous for this book. The last two books had tied my heartstrings into an endless knot, and I'm not sure I can take any more heartbreak. But I really want this series to end well. So much has been thrown at these characters, I think that it's time they finally get their happily ever after.

Whispers at Moonrise by C.C. Hunter

October 1st

This author sure loves cliff hangers. All of the three previous books in the Shadow Falls series have ended without a real ending, just continuing the story from one book to another. There's not necessarily a problem with that, it's just so frustrating! Having to wait months at a time to continue a journey with characters that you know and love is excruciatingly painful. It never feels like the last book really ended, just that I took a long vacation from it. No, that's not right, it makes it sound too voluntary. More like the last book was ripped out of my hands only chapters from the end. Completely unfair. I've killed for less.
